On December 6th, 2016, The Boston Red Sox announced that the team acquired superstar pitcher Chris Sale from the Chicago White Sox.

Upon making this move, it was clear that one-time opening day starter, Clay Buchholz, days in Boston were numbered.

Once again, Buchholz found himself among the American League elite in 2015 as he was able to lower his ERA to 3.26.

If these trends continue, Buchholz should be in for a bounce-back season.

In fact, in his ERA has severely fluctuated in the last four seasons. Buchholz followed that stellar season by pitching terribly.

He pitched 170 innings and held an ERA of 5.34 in 2014.

Buchholz and Charlie Morton combined to make six starts at a .5 million price tag.

“On the good side, none of those investments are beyond one year,” Mac Phail said Tuesday.
